![]() ![]() Espresso Cookie is insufferable (but I could never hate him) because he’s cute and knows it. At one point the Devsisters account posted a full-on thirst trap of him with a loosened tie and unbuttoned shirt. Polygon asked the developers who their favorite Cookies were, and they listed Espresso Cookie as being one of their two favorite characters. His official character description even reveals that his musical talents and “dashing looks make him a favorite among the Cookies.” Humble in nature, Mint Choco Cookie is the full package, putting him on the top spot on this list. He’s just a dreamboat who is literally winking in his character art. ![]() I have a gooey soft spot for Mint Choco Cookie. So we decided to round up the hottest cookies in celebration of Valentine’s Day this year. A representative told Polygon that Cookies are designed to look like cookies with human traits, but what the team cares most about is creating Cookies that “people can relate to and love.” What that love looks like, however, is up to fans to decide. Polygon asked the developers, Devsisters, about the designs and if they intentionally made the cookies hot. (And not just because they’re fresh out of the oven.) Whether it’s sending tweets calling the Tea Knight Cookie a “ DILF” and “ daddy,” or virtual screaming about videos of Espresso Cookie with his shirt unbuttoned, the Cookies have inspired a lot of fan art with their fun designs. They also, for many fans, inspire thirstiness. However, these humanoid cookies do more than just inspire cravings. Each of them has different skills, which is good for a balanced team when you’re going on runs - plus they each have a unique look based on the kind of sweet they are. A huge part of what makes the game fun is unlocking new Cookies, in order to expand your kingdom. The characters are based on cookies, and many of their designs are based on other desserts, like eclairs, cakes, and more. The free-to-play game, quite literally, is themed around sweet treats. Actors, artists, pimps, salesclerks and poets are selling delusions whole-heartedly, where there is always a catch and never a foundation. The video takes as its establishing environment the Los Angeles described in Bob Kaufman's poem “Hollywood”: in this Los Angeles, the city is sick without leave. Videos pan across beach vacations, domestic scenes, music concerts and everyday life in motion. In footage the characters are not visualized only their surroundings, and surrounding thoughts, are. They have trouble relating, despite their efforts at romance, and this troubled connection is the subject of their dialogue. On occasion their dialogue falls into a robotic unison, a kind of emotionless chorus – the voices define the distance between them more than the relation. As the narrative progresses, the three characters talk and sing alongside and over each other, one receding as another moves into the foreground. First presented in Los Angeles earlier this year, the immersive video installation comprises a one-act play shown across three screens – starring Hot Dog, Doobie, and Le Que Sabe. Sadie Coles HQ begins an offsite residency at 24 Cork Street with a month long solo presentation by Martine Syms, the first UK showing of her recent project Ugly Plymouths, 2020.
